Case Study: Winchester College Kitchen – Altro Safety Flooring Installation

Project Overview

Our recent project at Winchester College, in partnership with Hycom Walls Ceilings and Floors, involved the installation of high-performance Altro Safety Flooring in the college kitchen. This project was essential in providing a durable, slip-resistant surface to enhance both safety and hygiene in a high-traffic catering environment.

Scope of Work

The installation process required comprehensive subfloor preparation to ensure a flawless and long-lasting finish. Our team carried out the following steps:

Subfloor Inspection & Preparation – The existing subfloor was thoroughly assessed for any irregularities or moisture issues before work commenced.

Plywood Installation – Flooring-grade plywood was securely fixed throughout the kitchen area, providing a strong and stable base for the final covering.

Levelling & Smoothing – A high-quality levelling compound was applied, followed by professional sanding to create a perfectly smooth surface. This step was crucial in ensuring optimal adhesion for the new flooring.

Flooring Installation – Using industry-leading Bostik A800 adhesive, we installed Altro Stronghold 3mm Safety Flooring, a top-tier choice for commercial kitchens known for its slip-resistant properties and ability to withstand heavy foot traffic, spills, and daily wear.
